What are some tips for improving as a soccer player?

If you are a fan of soccer and you want to improve your game, there are many different approaches that you can take. Below, we are going to look at some of the different tips that you can follow in order to improve as a soccer player.

  • Get more familiar with the rules of the game – There is only one place to begin, and this is by thoroughly understanding all the rules. It is likely that you already have a good understanding of the basic rules. However, there are so many different elements of the game to understand, from the offside rule to rules regarding fouls and red/yellow cards. The more you read up on the sport, the better you will get.
  • Dribbling – One area that you really need to focus on is dribbling. This is a term that is used to describe when you make short touches, using your feet, to get away from defenders or to get down the field. Dribbling is something that demands a lot of your time and attention. The only way you are going to get better is if you practice.
  • Defending – Defending is a skill that a lot of players do not focus on, especially in the early days. They want to be the best goal scorer and to have all of the glory. This is understandable but even forwards are going to need to defend from time-to-time, so this is something you should practice a lot. Do one-on-one or one vs. one drills to help with this.

Contact us today to enter a league to show off your new skills. We offer coed soccer in Gaithersburg to show off how these tips have improved you as a player.

Elizabeth, I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. We are working on our new website and there have been a few hiccups as we go.
We do not offer instructional classes for kids older than 14. You should check into MSI Soccer or SAM Soccer for a team/league. I am sure they can help you out.
We do offer volunteer work for kids that age and they can come help run soccer camps and such. If this interests you please give us a call at 301-838-4455.

      Best wishes,
      Pete
